Ako si Makoy..

isang taong kagaya ng sinuman sa inyo.
isang nilalang na puno ng ng misteryo ang buhay at pagkatao.
isang abnong naghahanap ng pansin.

maaaring isa ako sa mga nakita mo nang tao, sa pagtambay mo sa PC-han, sa pakikipag-inuman sa videokehan, sa pagsusugal sa Color Game at Video Karera. maaaring nakasakay mo na ako, kasama ang mamang may putok sa LRT o MRT, nang may umutot sa jeep na sinasakyan mo, nang masiraan ang bus na sinasakyan mo papuntang Greenhills.

maaaring ako siraulong kapitbahay mo.
maaaring ako ang sumulot sa gelpren mo.
maaaring ako ang katingerong kaklase mo.
maaaring ako ang tamad na ka-Opisina mo.
maaaring isa ako sa mga ka-Tropa mo.
maaaring ako ang bestfriend mo.
maaaring ako ang kapatid mo.
maaaring ako ang anak mo.

maaaring kilala mo ako at maaring hindi rin naman. pero isa ako sa mga taong gumagawa ng eksena sa paligid mo.

  7. Hi Makoy:

    When I used to live in the Philippines, I was a writer and artist. I wrote komiks, Film (Bedspacers for Regal), and 7 TV shows (weekly for 5 years: ALINDOG-Alma Moreno’s weekly drama anthology; ULILA – with Rosa Rosal; PEPING ANG MUNTING ANGHEL with Romnick Sarmenta; BATA – with Romnick Sarmenta; TRUE STORY – with Romnick Sarmenta; SEÑOR SANTO NIÑNO with Romnick Sarmenta; INFINITUS with Snooky Serna).

    The life of a male prostitute was rather mysterious to me, so I decided to go undercover. I was only 15 years old that time, and the callboys were hanging out on Avenida street, particularly near the entrance of GOOD EARTH EMPORIUM (which I heard became Uniwide later). I joined the guys and became their friends. I made up a story that I was a factory worker who had an accident and never went back to the joint and decided to work as a callboy. They actually believed my story despite my age, because at 15, I was already 5″11″, and with my caucasian complexion, the customers would always zoom in on me. I always made up excuses, such as: “oh, I’m waiting for someone.” then they would take the others. I wrote tons of komiks stories, teleplays, and stage plays about callboys and I was able to write them with realism and conviction because the experience just showed me what it was really like out there.

    However, my intention of just fishing for information didn’t end there. These guys were so wonderful people and they became my true friends. I laughed with them, cried with them, celebrated with them. By then, I didn’t have the heart to tell them the truth. I agonized for months, thinking whether I should tell them the truth or not. In the end, I decided not to. I just couldn’t ruin the friendship of these wonderful people, true friends you could always count on, both in good times and in bad.

    I don’t know if callboys like you still have this sort of friendship, nowadays. It rather lightened the load for all of them, knowing that there were friends who were always there to lift a hand. Maybe you should write something about camaraderie of callboys if they still have one these days.
